August Bank Holiday weekend 1998. I've been back in Manchester just eleven months,
so this is my first taste of the event since 1991.
This shot, taken on the opening Friday night, sums up the mood of intense excitement
and expectation in the Gay Village, as the crowd waits for the parade. On Sackville
Street, this man asks if I'll shoot a picture of him and then (without any prompting
from me) immediately leaps up this pole, closely followed by his friend.
