Do
you like my 'big Y'? All I need now is the 'G' and the 'A' and I can advertise
for miles around. Hell I'm high enough up here.
Anyone remember that great 1960's comedy film: It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (I
forget exactly how many 'mads' are in the title)? I mention it because, in it,
the treasure is buried under a 'big Y'.
It's my birthday tomorrow. Something else I've noticed about Queer As Folk is
its theme that gay life somehow comes to an end when you hit thirty!
It's something that's also put about by the 'less mature' gay magazines and I've
even heard guys saying they hope they're dead before they get to thirty -- it's
so terrible apparently...
Well, I can tell you, that's crap. I've had a hell of a lot more fun since
I turned thirty and far more than I had in my twenties. The old saying 'life begins
at...' is true.
More friends, more money, more sex, more excitement, more guys looking at me,
more of a life... You know, a lot of lads in their twenties actually like a slightly
older man? Well, that's what I've found...
Though I guess, to an extent, it depends on what state you're in when you get
to thirty and whether you've looked after yourself ;-) Oh bugger, now I've 'come
out' as someone who's over thirty...
DIARY UPDATES & NEW MIRROR SITE
The last week has been very busy for me with work. So I've had little time to
update the diary. I'm working on that today. There'll be some entries that haven't
appeared on the front page. So, take a look.
I now have a mirror version of this site on Badpuppy. You may even be reading
this on BP! But I won't be publicising the Badpuppy URL for a couple of days,
because it's going to change.
The site on VirginNet is continuing, unless I get kicked off for taking up too
much bandwidth :-) I've had as many as 900 unique vistors in a day.
A NEW TOY
In the middle of chatting last night I had a sudden brainwave. I'd completely
forgotten that I have some equipment for sending a video signal by wireless.
So, I set about finding the stuff at the bottom of the cupboard and tried it out.
I'd never thought of using it for the webcam...
What it means is that I can plug the camera into the transmitter box and plug
the receiver box into the PC video card and, hey presto, you see me anywhere in
my apartment without cables running everywhere. It has a range of 100 feet through
walls! See the test pics in yesterday's journal entry.
The one below was taken while using it too.
Checking out boo.com -- a site that
has had lots of negative publicity lately. They say it's an example of how NOT
to design an online store: too slow and the goods hidden away too much.
I don't know if they've changed it lately, but I found it reasonably OK for speed.
Mind you, I wasn't in a hurry.
I hated having to scroll horizontally. Quite liked the design otherwise, though
I personally don't go in for lots of Flash on my sites.
