More interesting news about free Internet 'phone calls here in the UK.
Later today, Altavista is expected to announce completely free 'net access and
calls for a one-time initial fee of £30. The service will be restricted
to 500,000 people for the first six months.
Quite how they will make any money hasn't been revealed. Up to now, the free Internet
Service Providers have financed their services from the cut they get from call
fees to 0845 local-rate numbers.
The Internet is turning many things upside down... There are now companies that
will pay you to visit their sites, read their promotional e-mail and look at their
ads. There's a good round-up of these at Webdosh. Money For Mail is just one of
the schemes.
FOOTNOTE (2004): these sites no longer exist in that form.
It should be a lot more easy to get around my site from now on, as I spent last
working on some big improvements.
Almost all pages now have a drop-down menu at the top, which lets you jump to
any section on the site.
Plus standard links to the various sections now appear at the foot of every page
too. You can use these if your browser doesn't work with the drop-down Javascript
menu.
Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was very quiet :-)
