I completely forgot that this coming Monday is another public holiday (May Day).
Just a week after Easter too.
Hey, the weather here has improved, with some warm and sunny days this week. Though
I've been on an especially funny timetable since my recent cold and been sleeping
very late, so didn't make the most of the sun.
Of course, that is not that unusual... The fact is that I am not a 'morning' person
and never have been since a young age. I think I must be one of those people who
has a faulty body clock. Or maybe I'm half badger or owl!
It's not that I CAN'T sleep 'normal' hours... When I was with my long-term boyfriend
I used to go to bed and get up with him. It's just that, if left to my own devices,
I migrate towards staying up very late.
I would say that going to bed between 4am and 6am and waking between mid-day and
1pm is about right for my body clock.
I'm lucky enough to have a job that lets me do that. In fact, as I now do work
over the Internet, with companies that are in other countries, it can be a positive
advantage to work at night! I also benefit from completely free Internet calls
on X-Stream (an 0800
number). It is generally very easy to get on at night.
I find that I am at my most creative when it is dark. There's something about
the quietness at night that seems to get my creative juices flowing.
And there are other advantages... There are loads of bargains if you shop late
(I'm sometimes in the supermarket at 11pm) and it's not busy. And, when the weekend
comes around and I stay out clubbing until 4am -- hey, it isn't a problem. There
is no tiredness, as its normal for me :-)
I absolutely ADORE working for myself and working from home and I've been doing
it for more than ten years now. There are numerous advantages... Apart from being
able to work the hours I want, I also don't have to drag myself out of the house
and to work when I've got a cold! Instead, I turn the heating up and work at the
PC in my dressing-gown, feeling all sorry for myself!
Going through old photographs can be a funny thing... Sometimes you come across
pictures that you completely forgot about, didn't look at after you'd taken them
or didn't even know existed.
This is especially the case in professional photography, where you may not get
a print for every negative on the film -- just a 'contact sheet' instead (a page
of tiny images).
So, it can be a revelation to go rooting through old images, seeing what you can
find... This week I found this photo of me, which was taken about two years ago.
Now I have the webcam, I am dumping many thousands of images onto CD each month,
as I don't have time to go through and find the ones that I want to keep. They
should keep me busy on a few rainy afternoons ten years from now!
I think the redirect URL (garyseven.worldwide.nu) was down for quite a while this
week. I first suspected something when the hits to the site dipped substantially.
If you normally use the redirect, then it may be worth also bookmarking either
the Virgin or Badpuppy address. The redirect normally directs to the site on the
Virgin server.
I think GarySeven is unlikely to disappear off Badpuppy, so its safe to bookmark
that. As for Virgin, well who knows... I don't think there is anything particularly
objectionable about this site, and Virgin is a pretty cool and gay-friendly company.
But who knows...
The advantage of having a mirror site on Virgin is that it often seems to provide
faster access for surfers here in Europe.
