I fell asleep full clothed...
...and felt wrecked when I woke up after only four hours. In fact I still do as
I write this at 8.50am. It will be nice to get back to my double-bed!
I'm returning home in the next couple of days. I need to see what mail is lying
there waiting for me. Plus I may have a visitor a month from now. So I need to
start preparing for that -- getting ahead with my work and that kind of thing.
In fact, work is looking better than for a couple of years and I'm particularly
excited about working for one particular magazine. Yeah everything seems to be
looking up right now :-)
NEW GAY CLUB
A big new gay club is opening up in Manchester in June. I think it said the largest
in the UK. They reckon it will be 90% gay, with a fairly strict door policy to
prevent the balance being tipped too far the other way.
Of course there was a time not all that long ago when a str8 lad would rather
have died than be seen in a gay club. But now the str8 boys are so desperate to
get into the hip Manchester venues, that they sometimes hold hands at the door.
Which is quite sweet I think... LOL
PAINTING THE TOWN RED
I went up to the local hardware store and found that they had recently taken delivery
of a paint mixing machine. In other words, you can choose from hundreds of different
colours and they mix it for you on the spot. Quite a facility to have in small
place like this.
So I chose a dark-red, the woman fed the reference number into
the PC, added the recommended colours to the tin of base paint and mixed it. I
came home and began painting the back door. The paint was, in fact, a bright pinky-purple.
I could not see this going down well with the neighbours :-)
I took the pot back to the shop and had a l-o-n-g discussion with the woman and
her husband about whether it was the correct colour. Anyway, finally, they agreed
that if I chose a slightly different colour they would mix me a new pot.
I chose a red with more brown in it. They mixed, opened the pot and it was exactly
the same pinky-purple! None of us could understand this as, each time, different
amounts of different colours had been added to the base tone.
We had to conclude that it was either a fault on the software or a faulty batch
of base colour. They gave me a refund and I left them calling the paint manufacturer's
helpline!
I will patch up the areas on the door tomorrow.
Instead I began painting the internal panelled doors, with good old reliable brilliant
white. I'm ashamed to admit that this is a job I've been putting off since about
1994.
The reason I painted in my CKs is because I don't have any trousers with me that
I could ruin!
Anyway, now they look fantastic (the doors not my Calvins!).
What a difference a coat of paint makes!
