At the beginning of the week it became clear that the recording heads on my video-recorder
are becoming worn out. It only affects recording at the moment, not playback.
I can't complain, as the machine -- a Panasonic NV-FS90 -- is nine years old and
has never had a fault.

So, on Monday, I went out and bought a new VCR -- another Panasonic of course.
The picture quality is fantastic and it rewinds a tape in 60 seconds.
It's amazing how prices have come down. It cost £180, whereas just a year
or two ago it would have been around £300. Probably something to do with
the arrival of DVD. I can't wait for DVD recorders to become affordable.
