If you're reading this, then you're in the minority. The Daily Gallery gets only
a quarter of the hits that the front page of the main GarySeven site gets. Add
in the people who arrive directly at this page through the link from Badpuppy
and the percentage who click here from the front page of the site decreases even
more.
The fact that you made it this far means that you're a *valued* visitor... You
get a gold star next to your name on my wallchart ;-)
As for the 'other' visitors. Well, thanks to the stats, I've known for a long
time that most arrive looking for sex, porn whatever.
The combination of the words 'webcam' and 'gay' seems to attract that kind of
traffic. And it isn't even 'good quality' traffic... They may be looking for sex,
porn or whatever, but they sure as hell aren't prepared to PAY for a sexy book
or video or sign up for an AVS service :-)
This next bit is kind of funny and ironic and it's put me in a dilemma...
I think I've mentioned before that this site has never made any money. People
didn't click and buy anything. Maybe it shouldn't have pissed me off, because
this is basically a personal site. But, towards the end of last year it DID begin
to piss me off. I'm self-employed and I began to think that I could spend the
time more profitably.
Finally, at the beginning of 2001, I took the main part of the site offline, leaving
just the front page. On it, there was a link to this Daily Gallery, links to gay
videos for sale and a link to a free gay service that I'd discovered.
Well, would you believe that, with the main site gone, people actually began buying
videos, joining the gay service and Badpuppy? Yes, for the first time, I was actually making
some commission. In fact, I made $100 in a month. That was more than in the whole
of the previous year!
Instead of spending hours each week working on the site, with no income from it,
I was doing nothing and getting paid.
It was 'just a fluke' people told me. So I did a test: I put the pages back online
and, guess what? Income dropped to nothing again... I added the link to the free
gay service to more pages, but still hardly any sign-ups and commission.
Last week, I took the pages offline again and, hey, suddenly people are buying and signing
up again.
