No, these aren't two house bricks...
There's nothing like baking your own bread! Ever tried?
I began when I lived out in the country in 1992 and couldn't buy decent bread
in the shops there. It took me years to get it right, but then I found a recipe
in a newspaper and suddenly it all worked.
The UK has been hit by two disasters this week.
Near Selby in Yorkshire, a landrover went off the road and ended up on the London
to Scotland railway line. A few seconds later, a passenger train crashed into
it.
Then, the train, which was still upright, was hit by a second train which was
carrying coal in the opposite direction. At least ten people have been killed
and seventy injured.
I know someone who works on the trains on that route, which made it particularly
shocking for me. Luckily he wasn't involved.
The UK has also had a very serious outbreak of foot and mouth disease, for the
first time since the 1960's. Many farms are affected and this very infectious
disease (which is not a danger to humans) seems to be spreading across the country.
