Shortly after I got here I put together two window
boxes. One is outside of the bedroom window, the other is outside of the kitchen
window.
They've both suddenly blossomed in a big way, helped by the hot weather over Wimbledon
week and just before. Each box has blue lobellia (couldn't get the trailing variety
unfortunately)....
...purple and white petunias (I love petunias!)...
...and three red geraniumns...
I don't think I did too badly considering the limited selection of plants available
for sale in the village. Since then I've done another box for the living room
window and I have some nasturtiums that I grew from seed and which I'll put in
a small hanging basket.
For the last week the weather has been grey and depressing. That is the problem
with England -- particularly the northern end where I am at the moment :-)
The workmen arrived and fitted my mains gas supply yesterday, as planned. Now
I just need to get the boiler installed... That could take another few weeks.
Watching a Doris Day film. I forget the title -- the one where she raises lobsters
and has to fight the railway company. The weather has got cooler -- hence the
jumper!
In fact, it never gets really hot in this house, probably because its built from
stone and the walls are more than a foot thick in most parts.
