A good productive day today.
Tonight I tackled a job that I've been putting off -- namely splitting the index
for this Journal section into pages for the years 2000 and 2001 -- so everything
loads a bit faster for you, dear site visitor ;-)
It meant using 'search and replace' as much as possible, then going through about
250 pages, checking the links (that's the part I really wasn't looking forward
to). The section is massive -- about 29MB.
If it wasn't for Badpuppy,
I don't know where I'd host the site and how I'd pay for the bandwith. I know
I plug them a lot. They don't ask me to. But they really are some of the nicest
people and I appreciate what they give me :-)
I'm looking forward to some of the movies that are on TV over the holiday. I haven't
seen Toy Story. Then there are some I want to watch again, such as The Truman
Show.
Plus some old favourites that I've seen many times, but never tire of: particulary
Oliver!, The Railway Children and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang -- which I think they
are showing in widescreen. That will look good on the 14 inch TV here!
Three years ago, I loaned my 26 inch Sony stereo TV to mum and dad for safe-keeping.
Big mistake, as I don't have the heart to ask for it back. I have a nice 21 inch
Panasonic set in Manchester and may move that here or swap it with the Sony!
Andy, my long-term partner used to love going out for drives in the countryside.
One time we visited a village that makes a brief appearance in The Railway Children.
When they filmed there in the 1970's, it was pretty much abandoned. But, twenty
years later, when we visited, people had moved back. I was going to put a frame
grab here but the shots are on a Video8 tape and my camcorder doesn't playback
or record anymore!
I like to try and work out where old movies have been filmed and visit the locations
to see how they have changed.
