A gorgeous sunny, warm day... Perfect for touching
up the paintwork on the window frames.
Talk about things crawling out of the woodwork... There was a large woodlouse
family living in a hole in the window-sill. They all came out to say 'hello'.
Yuk! This window frame is in an extremely bad state and can't be saved, even though
I paint it every year. It's just a case of making it hold out for as long as possible.
Still, it's 80 years old and north-facing, so it hasn't done too badly. I want
to replace it with another wooden frame, which will have to be hand-made, so will
cost a lot of money.
Hold on there, I'll be right back ;-)
Being 20 foot up a ladder isn't my favourite thing. But it was still quite pleasant
in the sun.
I have a rissotto 'thing' going on at the moment :-)
Later I watched the BBC Test
the Nation programme and took part. Ann Robinson was the ideal 'school teacher'
character to host this show.
According to the result, my IQ is 117. Which puts me in the top 25% of the population
(anything above 110). If I had scored an IQ of 85 then I'm sure I wouldn't be
mentioning this at all :-)
I was bad on the more complicated numbers but good at identifying and rotating
shapes. But, hey, pigeons and monkeys can do that can't they?
The programme supposedly set out to test out the IQ of 'the nation'. But the results
were never going to be truly representative, as the more stupid members of the
UK population would have been watching Stars In Their Eyes Coronation Street Special
on ITV (the other main channel)!
You can do the test yourself online.
There are 70 questions and it takes about 25 minutes.
I'm heading back to Manchester on Monday...
