I've just been talking to my plant in the bathroom.
Up 'til now it's never been happy, wherever I put it. But now I seem to have found
the ideal place -- on the floor underneath the (north-facing) bathroom window, NEXT to the loo. It obviously enjoys hanging out near toilets...
Now it's sprouting all over. So I was just telling it how happy I am with its
progress ;-)
My mum is fantastic with houseplants and I'm not sure what her secret is. She
has some Christmas-flowering cacti that belonged to my grandmother, who died over
20 years ago.
I also love plants, but I need to find species that enjoy the near-tropical climate
inside my apartment.
I like having the heating up high, so I can walk around in my underwear. No, I
don't do that only for the benefit of the webcam, I just like to wear as few clothes
as possible.
Maybe its partly because I've lived in some cold, sometimes unheated, places in
the past? So I appreciate the incredibly cheap central heating system that I have
here all the more.
This week I finally found the best way to keep alive the pots of growing basil
that I occasionally buy from the supermarket. Up to now they've always died on
me.The secret is to water them from the bottom. Stand the pot on a saucer filled
with water for a couple of minutes.
As we get to the end of March, the trees are beginning to sprout here in the UK.
Spring is here and it's time for me to plan out what I'm going to put on my balcony
this year.
