Happy Easter everyone. Here are the contents of my pockets
when I got in from my night out. Now don't go jumping to any conclusions :-)
These are the free condoms that the Healthy Gay Manchester organisation put in
all the gay bars and clubs here. Well, you never know... And besides, the lube
is nice ;-)
HGM is changing its name and there is a Founders Fete next Saturday, which I'm
hoping to go to. there will be stalls and other events to raise money for the
organisation. Maybe I'll take some pics for you!
I think this is the event that has usually been held over Easter at Via Fossa.
Last year one of the Queer As Folk stars opened the it. This year (perhaps significantly?)
it is being held outside of the gay village, over at the Village Edge -- a new
bar on Ducie Street. This is also right next to the HGM headquarters.
I had a partially-used film that I had to develop today
for work. So I spent an hour this afternoon going around Manchester using up the
spare shots.
Along with some general shots of the city (see the next diary entry) I photographed
some of the places that used to be the location of gay bars and clubs in years
gone by: Archway, Heroes and Stuffed Olives. Look out for a new section about
these on here -- this summer probably. |

The basement location of Stuffed Olives -- one of Manchester's best gay bars in
the 1980's. Run by Peter and Clive (whom everyone called 'Olive' for obvious reasons...). |
