I've been out every night of the Easter weekend so far
and last night I went to a party at a house in Hulme. I got there at about 11pm
and didn't get home until 7am this morning.
There was lots of good food and more drink than we could all consume. Plus an
interesting mix of people: everything from skinheads to retired straight neighbours
and one or two whom I knew already.
The women in particular seemed to be having a fab time. At one point, a tiny Asian
(Indian or Pakistani) girl with a Geordie accent was sandwiched between me and two skinheads
as we pretended to do unmentionable things to her. Straight gurls just love being
able to relax with us gay boyz, don't they? ;-)
The husband of one straight couple admitted to lots of gay experiences in the past
and, in their relationship, the female partner very definitely wears the
trousers -- among other things... ;-) They are getting married in six months time
and I thought what a cool couple they were.
It was perhaps a sign of the times, that the campest and most traditionally 'gay-looking'
guy (tight vest, levis, big hair, limp-wrists) was actually 100% straight and
accompanied by his girlfriend! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind camp guys. Sometimes
I really like 'em...
Hulme used to be a bad area until they pulled down the main urban
mistakes of the 1960's. Now it has an exciting mix of people who are attracted
to the new housing and also because the area is within walking distance of the
city centre.
I love this city! It's a wonderful place to live.
Unfortunately, as a result, I slept until mid-afternoon.
Apparently the weather was sunny and there was line-dancing on Canal Street. One
of my friends wanted me to go down there with him and his five-year-old son, but
I was still asleep, so missed his call and all the fun.
