Ready to go this morning |
I'm not a political animal, but sometimes I make a stand. Today was one of those
days.
Some twelve years ago I took part in the rallies that happened here in Manchester
in protest at legislation which the Conservative Government put in place.
Supposedly intended to prevent Local Authorities from 'promoting homosexuality',
Section 28 has never been used.
It has, however, had an effect -- making teachers anxious about approaching subjects
such as homophobic bullying at school.
So, more than a decade later, I took to the streets of Manchester once again,
with some two or three thousand other people (including my next-door neighbours
on both sides) to encourage the current Government to finish off this bad legislation.
