Now is that a cute ass or what? ;-)
Nasturtiums going wild. These were seeds in a packet 15 days ago! I put them outside
this afternoon to start hardening them off ready for permanent outdoor life. Below
the marrow seedlings, making great progress too.
One problem with friends reading this site is that, sometimes, I can't write about
things that happen and which are so outrageous that they take my breath away.
That's all I can say... ;-)
Great concern in Europe over the surprising support for the extreme right-wing
in the French elections. With the local elections just coming up in Britain, everyone
is wondering whether the same thing could ever happen here.
Last year the National Front made gains in Oldham, near Manchester, exploiting
existing racial divides between the white and asian communities there. The result
was some of the worst riots in this country for 20 years.
Part of the problem is apathy among voters. This local election could see the
lowest-ever turn out to vote. Trouble is, hatred and bigotry are strong motivators.
So the facists are more likely to get themselves down to the polling station.
