The Queen's Golden Jubilee tour of Britain was livened
up yesterday when a naked man (a streaker) ran alongside her car as she visited
Newcastle. He had the words 'Rude Britannia' written on his buttocks. And very
nice he was too. I think there should be more of this.
Funnier still, it turns out that he works for the Government in the pensions department!
(Footnote: he was later fired for streaking!)
Changing the subject. It's hard to have pets, indoor plants and a tidy garden
when you're trying to live between two different locations... I've considered
giving up the place in Manchester and living here full-time again. But there are
difficulties, one of which only became clear in the last few weeks...
There is talk of it taking 20 years before we get broadband out here in the countryside
and I need it for my business. I can't continue on a 56k dial-up connection for
much longer...
I don't think broadband will happen here unless the Government forces British
Telecom to provide an equal service across the country and I doubt they will have
the balls to do that. BT is the most despicable company. It has wasted hundreds
of millions of pounds on worthless mobile 'phone deals but will not invest in
essential infrastructure in areas like this.
