This afternoon it was the Mardi Gras parade through Manchester City Centre. This
is one part of the weekend that I thoroughly enjoy.
As I've pointed out in previous years, it always seems to rain just before,
or during, this parade. Sure enough, the morning was wet, but luckily things had
dried up by lunchtime.
I kind of messed up this year. In the past, the parade seems to have started
late and I've ended up standing waiting for an hour. This year, I left the house
later and the parade was on time! But I think I caught the start of it just as
I arrived on the scene.
As the final people passed by, I met Neil and we headed off for coffee, some
shoes for his eight-year-old son and to drop off my films for one-hour processing
at Boots. I was only having the negatives developed, so I could scan them (no
prints), so the lab said the negs would be ready in twenty minutes. What great
service!
You can see all my shots in the gallery here.
So I was able to get all the images scanned by 7pm, when I had a hot date
arranged. I found myself on a bus heading out of the city to Didsbury. That bus
trip definitely brought back a few memories as I used to live around there twenty
years ago and hadn't taken that bus in at least fifteen years.
