I fell asleep on the bed fully clothed at 11.30 pm Monday night.
The lights were on when I woke at 9am.
I had the most vivid dream and could remember lots of details. That hasn't happened
for ages.
In the first part of the dream I was at a place where I used to teach summer school,
but no one recognised me. Then I was at Wimbledon taking photographs. But the
guy playing tennis was the footballer Michael Owen (yum!).
At the side of the court was an electrical box with loads of live wires hanging
out and I was concerned about it. But my dad was there, saying not to worry about
it.
Finally, I was cycling on a country lane and was late meeting a friend. I never
did meet him (actually this was someone who was supposed to call to see me on Monday,
but who didn't turn up and called to apologise).
This was one of those vivid dreams that makes you feel slightly confused when
you wake up. When I was a teenager I sometimes woke in a sweat and for a minute
or two I would be convinced that the dream was true. Scarey if you dream that
there's been a nuclear explosion or that you've murdered someone! But luckily
that doesn't happen anymore.
For years I had a recurring dream. In it I am standing on the upper floor in a
dark old house. This house is so rotten that there are holes in the roof where
the rain is coming in and there is a huge hole in the floor, which I have to be
careful not to fall through. God knows what it means!
I spent a large part of today finalising my plans for the cupboards that I'm building
and gathering the tools and timber that I need. I'll show you when it starts to
take shape.
Tonight my friend Neil turned up with his electric rotary saw, as he thought I
might find it useful. I hadn't asked to borrow it, he just brought it round. Very
sweet of him...
Also tonight I watched a documentary about the two British gay guys who recently
had surrogate twins. They seemed to be fairly stereotypical wealthy gay men, apart
from the fact that they have been together for well over ten years.
What I don't understand is, if they want these babies so much, why do they plan
to leave them with a nanny all day while they both go out to work?
Anyway, I wish them luck, but I don't have any intention of having any babies
of my own in the foreseeable future. Though there IS someone in prospect who should
be able to get me pregnant if any man can... ;-)
