I've been going over to the EasyEverything Internet
cafe quite a bit over the past six weeks (that's me there in the pic above). It's great value late at night. For £1, you get maybe four or six hours and you can log in and out and so
use that online time anytime over a period of a month. The coffee is good too.
And as I can't yet have a broadband connection either at home here in Manchester,
or at the other house (good old British Telecom), it's good to get on a fast connection
for a change.
There was some trouble a while ago about gay sites being banned. In fact you'll
find you can't access my site in EasyEverything! And I hear the chain is
in financial trouble (see
this BBC report).
But what do you get for £1 these days? I hope it won't close, because it's
fun to go and one of the amusing things is the amount of cruising that happens
there.
People on gay.com or at gaydar.co.uk often have '@EE' tagged onto the end of their
username. So it's just a case of talking for a while and then asking them to stand
up!
Well, just over a month ago I was in EE and got messaged by a 19 year old who, on hearing I'm a photographer, asked me if I'd take some shots of him. And he obviously didn't want to wait until the next day... Well, this isn't exactly the first time something like this has happened!
It was 3am and part of me just wanted to go to bed to sleep. But I relented and
ended up back here, setting up a background and some flash equipment.
Although I've had literally thousands of photographs published commercially, I've
done very little photography of people in a studio situation. So I thought it
would be good experience.
People are always disappointed to find that I don't have a load of impressive
studio flash equipment! I've just never needed it. Photographers tend to find
a certain niche for themselves and stick with it and my niche has never been people
in the studio...
Anyway, my method of working has always been to keep things simple and concentrate
on the people rather than tricky techniques. Sometimes I use just daylight (not
easy at 4am!) or just one or two lights.
Anyway, I finished off a roll of colour and took several rolls of black and white.
Though he got naked, the only uncovered shot is one showing his butt (above). 
Some of the shots are really very nice. Later that day, I e-mailed him two of
the best.
I haven't heard back, but that isn't a surprise. I guess he just got off on the
experience of being photographed and I got myself some practice.
The deal was that no identifiable pics of him would appear anywhere and I always
honour any arrangement like that, so I'm limited in what I can put up on this
page.
Don't mail me asking me to send any of the other shots, because I won't!
