Now the weather is conspiring against me! I was meant to travel back to Manchester
on Thursday. But, looking at the forecast, it was clear we were in for snow and
gales. Some of the worst weather for years in fact...
So, I heeded the warnings not to travel. Unlike some people who don't seem to
understand the meaning of a warning that says 'make essential journeys only'.
Many got stuck on the M11 motorway without food or water for 23 hours on Thursday
night. Including a woman with a baby.
This may sound harsh, but I actually laughed out loud when I saw the webcam shots
of the congested London roads on Breakfast TV on Friday morning. What drives these
people? Can't they take a day off and keep the roads clear? Their boss must really
have them under the thumb.
The irony is, many will be leaving a home that has a PC with a broadband Internet
connection to go and sit in an office all day in front of another PC... It's crazy.
The Government should do more to encourage companies to let employees work at
home. Less stress, fewer car journies, roads that are less-congested, less pollution.
But I imagine the sticking point is those 'control-freak' managers who can't bear
to 'let go' and trust people.
Having decided to go back, I feel slightly frustrated to have to delay...
Sharing a joke with my friend Miss Noodle. We usually start the day by exchanging
some e-mails.
